As the series that has celebrated the woman behind the little tales, and the charming country characters they reveal, draws to a close, we celebrate one of Beatrix Potter’s most famous characters. Despite Jemima Puddle-Duck’s naivety, generation after generation have taken the unlucky heroine to their hearts, relieved when good old Kep the collie rescues her from the bushy-tailed ‘gentleman’.
The iconic Jemima Puddle-Duck has been depicted on this, the first official United Kingdom coin to feature her character, and the very determined, if rather naïve, duck is instantly recognisable in her shawl and bonnet. Royal Mint engraver, Emma Noble, has made sure Jemima is at the very heart of the design, with every feather captured in fine detail in the coin’s Brilliant Uncirculated finish. This coin is presented in fold-out packaging, inspired by Beatrix’s own illustrations.
