Safety, Health & Environmental Specialist

£34,957 plus excellent benefits

The Role:

As a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Specialist at The Royal Mint, you will join a dedicated team of safety professionals to drive and lead a culture of SHE excellence across The Royal Mint organisation. You will ensure that SHE management systems, policies and procedures comply with the SHE requirements, are applied consistently and rigorously embedded. You will be responsible for developing and implementing site processes, policies and procedures with emphasis on safety, health and environment, legislative regulatory and business requirements.

Main responsibilities in this role include:

  • Maintain compliance with Health and Safety regulations (UK and EU) including keeping up with changing regulations.
  • Provide SHE guidance and advice to all levels in the business, in order that employees have the required knowledge and awareness to improve practices and operate safely.
  • Monitor and drive completion of site compliance tasks.
  • Lead and coach teams to ensure successful SHE management system implementation.
  • Conduct SHE audits / inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented on a timely basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification is essential
  • Significant experience of working in a similar role within a high risk environment is essential.
  • Internal auditor to ISO14001 and/ or OHSAS18001 experience is essential.
  • Good understanding of the UK statutory occupational health, safety and hygiene requirements within the manufacturing industry.
  • The ability to write and implement relevant Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills.
