Struck to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of George V, the 1935 crown features a St George and the dragon reverse design by Percy Metcalfe that was commissioned for the occasion. Metcalfe’s art deco design, which depicts St George riding straight legged, earned the coin the nickname of the ‘Rocking Horse’ crown, whilst it is said that the face of the saint bears a remarkable resemblance to the artist himself.
