The £1 City Series
The new series of £1 coins representing the four constituent parts of the UK has begun this year. England and Northern Ireland coins make their debut in 2010 and the coins for Scotland and Wales will be released in 2011.
The four reverse designs of the City series focus on the four capital cities of the UK featuring the coats of arms of each capital city. They are the work of Stuart Devlin AO, CMG who holds the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Her Majesty The Queen.
Being a legal tender coin of the UK, the obverse bears the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley, FRBS. Please note the 2010 gold Proof £1 coin has a maximum coin mintage of 2,500.
