Remember, for Generations to Come

Remembrance Day began in 1919 to honour the sacrifices of soldiers in the First World War and ceremonies have taken place at war memorials ever since. This annual event gives us the opportunity to come together to remember those touched by the long shadow of war, and give thanks to those who continue to risk their lives to protect our freedom today.

Traditionally appearing on an Alderney coin, this year’s tribute from The Royal Mint has been struck on an official United Kingdom £5 coin. The reverse design was created by Royal Mint graphic designer Stephen Taylor, whose realistic poppies are highlighted in the coin’s vibrant colour printing. Just 5000 silver Proof coins are available struck in 925 sterling silver and finished to Proof standard. A donation from every coin purchased will be made to Imperial War Museums to help them continue their important work.

Thank you! From my grandpa and me.

I was always struck as a child by Remembrance Day in the Uk and Canada. I always loved how everyone wore a poppy, even more so when my grandfather explained why.

I am in the States, and there are other traditions, here. So, I gave the Rembrance Coin to my nephew and told him the meaning of the poppy, and together we read “In Flanders Field.”

Thank you to all who served and serve. God bless you! And God bless the Royal Mint for creating a new way never to forget your heroism, pain and loss.

A fitting tribute of remeberance

It's design is simple yet thought provoking. A superb stand out from the crowd coin that can be handed down through future generations so we never forget..A talking point in the house as well... should it be "Cannot" or the two separate words "Can Not"? .. that is the question. .
