The Silver Collection

This set of silver Proof coins, featuring selective gold plating on the 1p to the £2, is the perfect and permanent memento of 2012 and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Commemorate 2012 and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with this stunning set of silver Proof coins. The definitive coins – the 1p to the 50p – feature, for the first time ever, selective gold plating, highlighting parts of the Royal shield that appear on their reverse. The £1 coin shows the gold-plated shield in full, while the two £2 coins have gold-plated outer rings. The official UK £5 coin, struck in silver Proof to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, completes this magnificent Silver Proof Set.

The Queen’s Portrait

The faithful likeness of The Queen on each obverse was created by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley who deliberately set out to create ‘a portrait which was clearly recognisable, not over idealised’.

The Definitive £2 Coin – Celebrating Technology

When it was first struck in 1997, the definitive £2 coin was the first bi-colour coin of the UK. Its reverse design was the result of a public competition and celebrates the march of technological progress in Britain from the Iron Age to the Internet Age.

The Royal Arms

Celebrating Britain’s ancient royal heritage and created by Matthew Dent, UK coins represent the shield of the Royal Arms, a powerful symbol of monarchy used on the coinage since the reign of Edward III (1327-1377). The 1p to the 50p reveal elements of the shield which have been gold plated, while the £1 coin features the gold-plated shield in its entirety.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee £5 Coin

The Diamond Jubilee £5 coin is indeed worthy of the occasion. The obverse features a faithful portrait of The Queen as she is today, crowned and wearing the robes of the Order of the Garter. The reverse bears a portrait of the young Queen as she appeared on her first coinage with decorative leaves reminiscent of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee medal and, in another link to the coinage of Victoria, the Latin words DIRIGE DEUS GRESSUS MEOS (May God Guide My Steps) which first appeared on the Una and the Lion gold £5 coin of 1839. The edge inscription – A VOW MADE GOOD – is a reference to The Queen’s promise of 21 April 1947 and its generous and continuing fulfilment.

The Charles Dickens £2 Coin

The £2 coin marks the 200th anniversary of his birth and boasts a remarkable and inventive reverse by Matthew Dent. A profile outline, immediately recognisable as Dickens, has been painstakingly created from the titles of Dickens’ famous works; from his early writings, ‘Sketches by Boz’, to his final and unfinished novel ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood’.

The Royal Jewel

By Francesco,

The coins are beautiful as always. The finish is excellent. The box containing the coins is truly a treasure chest to keep the coins of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.

Lovely set! However, watch when you open.

By Gerard,

This product arrived last week. The boxing is nice (I like the change to a leather based box). However, on opening the box, the coins were not in their holes. I was frightened that they had left their casing. Thankfully this was not the case. I had to securely place them back. Watch out for that! The product however, is fantastic.
