The London 2012 Paralympic £5 Coin

Last Chance - Order before 31 MarchBe part of the London 2012 Games with this Official Paralympic UK £5 coin which perfectly commemorates the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The Paralympic coin design by Pippa Sanderson is a modern interpretation of some of the key skills we will enjoy watching during the Paralympic Games. The top left section of the coin features an archery target representing accuracy and the words ‘London 2012’, while the top right of the design shows spoked wheels representing manoeuvrability. The bottom right section shows Big Ben representing London and the bottom left section of the coin features a stopwatch representing speed and the London 2012 Paralympic emblem.

Pippa is, in her words, ‘honoured, proud and thrilled’ that her design was chosen for the 2012 Paralympic Games £5 coin. ‘With the coin being circular, I played around with circles found in the Games, and decided on a spoked wheel for manoeuvrability, a target for accuracy and a stopwatch for speed. I split the design into these elements and added the face of Big Ben to represent London.’

Each Paralympic UK £5 coin is presented in a specially designed and informative wallet that sits within a gold-foiled slipcase detailing the coin’s design and specifications.

Excellent

By Russell,

This is a fantastic memento of the incredible 2012 Olympics. Its a lovely design and beautifully struck. My only slight criticism is that it's a shame the coin doesn't sit flat in the card to look at when shut. Otherwise a great purchase.
