The 2011 UK Commemorative Silver Proof Set

This limited edition Silver Celebration collection brings together the six UK coins authorised for issue in 2011. UK coinage embodies the rich history of our nation but special coins issued each year also recall great events in British history. This collection for 2011 contains the magnificent £5 coin celebrating the 90th birthday of HRH Duke of Edinburgh, two £2 coins celebrating key anniversaries of the King James Bible and the iconic Mary Rose, two £1 coins complete the cities series honouring the four capital cities, and a 50p coin marks the 50th Anniversary of WWF.

The faithful likeness of the Queen on each obverse was created by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley who deliberately set out to create ‘a portrait which was clearly recognisable, not over idealised’.
