It’s always thrilling to discover what aspect of Britannia’s character will be highlighted on the new gold and silver Britannia coins of the year. For 2011, artist David Mach has given us a delightful portrait that is at once traditional and contemporary: Britannia, in traditional seated pose, placed at the heart of a billowing Union Flag.
Back by popular demand, this delightful set brings together the year’s gold £50, £25 and £10 Britannia coins.
Each of the three coins have been struck in 22 carat yellow gold to Proof quality and contains a half-ounce, quarter-ounce and tenth ounce of gold respectively. Splendidly presented, the set comes in a luxurious display case complete with a Certificate of Authenticity assuring you of their provenance and edition limit of just 250 sets*.
*For further information and maximum coin mintages – see Specifications.
Rarity and beauty therefore guarantee to make this collection a great favourite again this year. All reverses boast the new, very patriotic Britannia created by David Mach exclusively for the Britannia family of 2011 while each obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Majesty The Queen.
