65 years of Loyalty and Affection

Celebrated with The Royal Mint’s flagship coin

Her Majesty The Queen came to the throne 65 years ago and it is now time to celebrate her Sapphire Jubilee. This historic royal milestone calls for all the joy and thanks The Queen deserves as the world’s longest reigning living monarch – and the first and only British monarch to reach a Sapphire Jubilee.

The Sovereign is The Royal Mint’s flagship coin, famous for unrivalled accuracy and its classic St George and the dragon design. The gold coin is struck each year as a commemorative coin and as an internationally recognised bullion coin. The Sovereign is closely associated with the monarch and we strike limited numbers of the coin on the day of the most special royal occasions, tying them to that moment in history.

Just 750 Sovereigns will be struck on 6 February to celebrate Her Majesty’s Sapphire Jubilee – Sovereigns struck on a specific day are very popular, with previous releases selling out extremely quickly. The striking is authenticated by the hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity that accompanies the 22 carat gold Brilliant Uncirculated coin. The reverse of the coin features Benedetto Pistrucci’s St George and the dragon, while the obverse bears the most recent coinage portrait of The Queen by Royal Mint coin designer Jody Clark.

For this historic occasion we have joined with Westminster Abbey for a special offer for Royal Mint customers. Every coin from The Queen’s Sapphire Jubilee range, purchased direct from The Royal Mint before 28 February 2017, comes with a voucher for 25% off admission to Westminster Abbey, where The Queen was crowned on 2 June 1953.*

Truly Unique

Rated 5 out of 5
19 February 2017

A unique and beautiful coin marking an anniversary unlikely to be repeated. As with the 2016 celebration sovereign it would have sat better in a polished wood presentation but as shown by its rapid sell-out it will continue to be a much sought after collectors piece.
