The only official new coin design for Prince George

To celebrate the arrival of Prince George of Cambridge an official coin has been released for his christening. This official christening coin has been approved by the Palace, and like the £5 coins often released for important Royal events, it is a must-have memento of a special time for the Royal family, and a special time for Britain. The coin is presented in an illustrated display folder packed with information about the christening and its traditions and the history that goes before Prince George.

Who would be without their crown coin for the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen or the marriage of The Prince of Wales and Princess Diana? They are as much part of the celebration of Royal events as the street parties and the flag-waving crowds lining the Mall. The Royal Mint marks another important Royal moment for the nation with an official christening coin for Prince George – it is the first time a coin has ever been struck for a Royal christening.

Marking a Royal christening for the very first time

Whether you are purchasing your Brilliant Uncirculated £5 coin as a memento for you to treasure or as an addition to the memory box of a child or grandchild, you will be delighted with this beautiful coin, specially commissioned for the christening. It is decorated with traditional lilies and cherubs herald the birth of a new Prince, a baby who is destined to be king one day. And in the elegant packaging you can read all about the young Prince’s names and Royal christening customs.

John Bergdahl, a sculptor who has created a number of coins for The Royal Mint, was inspired by tradition. His design has the Lily Font at its heart – the font that is used to baptise Royal children, normally kept in the safe confines of the Tower of London.

Your coin has been struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard – a much better quality than the coins you might find in your change – and it is kept at its sparkling best in the specially designed display folder that also helps you explore the christening.

Never before has a coin been struck for a Royal christening – and the coins struck to greet Prince George’s birth were so popular they sold out in days

I am very happy with the coin and the prompt delivery. I ordered this coin and the coronation coin at the same time. It took 15 days from date ordered to being received in Canada during Christmas. This coin is a wonderful keepsake of a day in history.
