Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the UK £1 Coin

Three-Coin Gold Proof Set

Be the first to acquire this unique commemorative set of a much-loved national coin. Specially re-struck by The Royal Mint, it features the three versions of the classic Royal Arms used on the £1 coin since it was introduced in 1983, the first time they have all been available as one set.

With strong interest from gold Proof collectors worldwide, and a strictly limited edition of just 100 it is likely that this desirable set will sell out, so you are strongly advised to order now.

Since its launch   on 21 April 1983 the £1 has always represented the United Kingdom and its constituent parts; England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The first £1coin showed a detailed and intricate image of the Royal Coat of Arms. Designed by Eric Sewell, Chief Engraver at The Royal Mint, it has become one of the most famous images on British coinage.

In 1988 a new design was created by Royal Mint engraver Derek Gorringe. Inspired by the Sovereigns of Queen Victoria, his elegant image shows a crowned shield of the Royal Arms on a plain background.

The third design, first issued in 2008, is by artist Matthew Dent, who won the commission in an open competition. His modern version of the shield of the Royal Arms fills the coin to dramatic effect.

Adding to the desirability of this stunning set is that it is the only way to own the Sewell and Gorringe £1 gold Proof coins dated 2013. With a very low issue limit of just 100 there is every chance these gold Proof sets will sell out, so please order today to secure yours.

Really special

By J, 17 January 2013

I've been saving up for over a year for something special to come along that I really wanted to add to my collection. When I saw this 3 coin set I knew it was the one.
The irony is that everyday, millions of people all over the UK touch, spend and receive the £1 coin, yet I'm now one of the privileged few to own a set of 100 piedfort gold sets. I'm so chuffed; especially with the Gorringe shield as this one doesnt turn up in your pocket very often and the only "in circulation" examples I have are quite worn.
Thanks for really special product.
John, Northants.
