Exclusive and beautiful, a prime example of the minter’s art

The Premium Proof Set

Premium MedalA very special limited edition, the Premium Proof Set includes the eight definitive coins of the United Kingdom – the 1p to the £2 – along with six commemorative coins including the £5 crown. But exclusive to this set are both the 2014 Premium Medal – specially minted – and a set of prints inspired by the artistry of past engravers. All 14 coins for 2014 are struck to perfection at Proof quality and presented in an elegant wooden case. As befits a premium edition, only 4,500 sets will be available – you should place your order as soon as possible.

What’s included?

2014 CommemorativesLimited edition prints based on the artist’s original drawings are available only with this premium set.

The 2014 Premium Medal is also only available with the Premium Proof Set. This year’s medal showcases our cutting edge security techniques and the artistry of our engravers with a beautiful and intricate design based on the armour of King Henry VIII’s horse.

An elegant £5 Crown pays tribute to the life and legacy of Queen Anne, 300 years after her death. It was designed by Mark Richards FRBS, creator of the £5 Crown struck for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

A £2 coin marks the outbreak of the First World War – the first coin in a five-year series that will take us on a journey from outbreak to Armistice. It features the image of Lord Kitchener in his now iconic ‘Your country needs you!’ pose.

A second £2 coin celebrates the 500th anniversary of Trinity House, an organisation that has tirelessly served Britain’s mariners since the time of Henry VIII.

Two £1 coins complete a series begun in 2013. They bear beautiful floral emblems – the flax and shamrock for Northern Ireland and the bluebell and thistle for Scotland.

The official Glasgow 2014 50p has a dynamic design of a cyclist and athlete above the Saltire of Scotland, completing the commemorative editions.

The definitive coins from the 1p to the 50p bear a design that makes up the Royal Arms, created by Matthew Dent in 2008. His full design appears on the £1 coin. The £2 coin celebrating technology, designed by Bruce Rushin in 1997, is the final coin in this 2014 set.

Your coins are struck to flawless Royal Mint Proof standard and presented in a premium wooden case for you to gift or display them.

A booklet that tells the behind the scenes story of how themes and designs are chosen, and explains the designers’ inspiration is the final touch in this premium presentation of the coins of 2014.

Premium 2014 coin set

By Andrew,

Overall I am really pleased with the item. The packaging was very good and the fact the wooden case comes in its own box will help protect it over the coming years. Yes it is a bit expensive for 14 coins but I can't fault the quality of any part of it. The coins are beautiful and the finish & detail on each one is wonderful especially the £5. The box is very well made felt lined and for me adds so much to the set. I would rate it as 4.5/5 (minus .5 for the slightly high cost)
