Piedfort coins have a long history dating back to the twelfth century, and were later struck as ceremonial gifts to give to foreign rulers at state occasions. Proof coins represent the pinnacle of the minter’s art and really showcase the world-class craftsmanship of The Royal Mint. Each coin is struck three times using dies that have been hand-polished with diamond paste to achieve the distinctive high brilliance.
These miniature masterpieces are housed in a superior presentation case that allows you to display your coins. Each set comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and an illustrated colour booklet with information about the history of The Royal Mint and the Queen’s coinage since her coronation in June 1953.
