There are places to insert the two 2010 coins – London and Belfast – and space to hold the four Certificates of Authenticity safely in the inner lid.

Each of the four Silver Proof Piedfort Cities Series £1 Coins are subject to a maximum coin mintage of 5,000 each.

The £1 City Series

The latest series of £1 coins focus on the four capital cities of the UK featuring the coats of arms of each capital city. Brilliantly designed, the reverses each of the coins display the heraldic identity of all four cities while highlighting one in particular. They are the work of Stuart Devlin AO, CMG who holds the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Her Majesty The Queen. He chose to use the Coats of Arms of each capital city since, although there were certain constraints, they still allowed considerable design freedom and he was able to give the traditional a contemporary feel by making the shields circular to fit the shape of the coins.

Being a legal tender coin of the UK, the obverse bears the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley, FRBS.
