Henry VIII
Henry VIII succeeded to the throne on 21 April 1509 and was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 24 June the same year, just two weeks before his 18th birthday. He is perhaps the most famous of the Tudor monarchs and, in 2009, a magnificent £5 coin marks the 500th Anniversary of his accession.
