For only the second time in the nation’s history, we are able to celebrate a monarch’s Diamond Jubilee. Amid the joy and pageantry, this majestic new set of silver Proof coins is a reminder of The Queen’s devotion to serving her country and Commonwealth and the royal duties she undertakes annually. The six commemorative coins are in a limited edition presentation of just 2,000, adding to the value of this significant set.
Royal duties of The Queen shown in the Silver Proof coins are: attending the State Opening of Parliament, her birthday tribute at Trooping the Colour, presenting the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, her position as Head of the Armed Forces and the State and Royal Visits she carries out each year to overseas countries.
Each crown-sized coin has been designed by Royal Mint Engravers Heena Aujla and Thomas Docherty, and incorporate symbols and images, as well as words spoken by Her Majesty.
Worthy of note is the Royal Ascot coin, which has on the obverse the elegant portrait of The Queen by Raphael Maklouf and is struck in .999 fine silver. The other five are crafted from .925 sterling silver and show the familiar effigy of The Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
The Diamond Jubilee is a momentous event in the history of Britain. With its theme of royal duties, this set gets to the heart of the role that monarchy plays in our society and the world at large, and is a fine heirloom to hand down to generations to come.
