Medals & Medallions
Whatever your organisation, the Royal Mint can produce the right medal for you. All our bespoke medals can be individualised and provide the perfect means to promote any organisation, celebrate corporate success, personal achievement or even mark an anniversary.
The manufacturing of medals has long been a responsibility of the Royal Mint. Our customers range from military mounted medals, the Queen's Honours list, foreign governments to the emergency and civilian services. For many years the Royal Mint has also struck medals for the private market including Universities, Professional
Institutions, Learned Societies, and private corporations.
Mounted Medals
Since 1815 the Royal Mint has produced military and civilian medals and gallantry awards for the United Kingdom and many overseas governments. Rewarding long service, outstanding achievement, loyalty and bravery, the mounted medal holds a unique meaning.
The Royal Mint supplies some of the most prestigious awards including KBBs, OBEs and MBEs which reflect their meaning in a beautifully crafted medal. The mounted medal involves up to 42 separate manufacturing operations and includes the use of a ribbon and brooch/clasp. Each ribbon is unique in colour and design and is
hand-stitched to the medal. The medal can be pinned to the chest or suspended from a ribbon around the neck. Ideal for
recognising achievement, sporting and otherwise.
Miniatures
The Royal Mint can produce miniature versions of military and civilian medals. A medal can serve as a unique celebration, a prestigious award or a collectable memento. The resources and technologies of the Royal Mint are accessible to every business that wants to utilise its skills.
Prize Medals
The Royal Mint's medal manufacturing experience is unsurpassed and we have produced prize medals for universities, companies and institutions for many years. These bespoke products allow the adorning of a reward in a completely
unique and unmatched way.
The traditional prize medal is called a cast medal and is created by pouring molten metal into a detailed mould at carefully controlled temperatures. These medals allow you to display high relief designs in superb detail, and can be produced in relatively small quantities. Bold and impressive, the cast medal allows the designer to create imaginative and unusual medals in every shape and contour allowing depth and texture to the medal.
Lapel Badges
There are some more modern alternatives to the traditional mounted and cast medals. A lapel badge or pin can still reward and recognise whilst being functional product that can be worn everyday. The wearing of a badge can symbolise the membership to a club or society and is always worn with pride.
